Becky Evans - Co-Administrator Mrs. Evans has been involved in DMFH since its inception in fall 2009 except for a 2½ year hiatus in 2011. Prior to 2009, she served for 12 years as head administrator of Solid Rock Enrichment Program as the ministry was previously called. Becky and her husband are veteran homeschoolers of 22½ years to their four boys, all graduates of this program. She and her husband are grandparents to four (and counting!) beautiful grandchildren. Becky has completed her lay biblical counseling training through her church. Upon completion of her internship she was involved in the Biblical Counseling Ministry team. Mrs. Evans loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoys most recreational activities as well as reading and studying, travel, and get togethers with friends and family. "The book to read is not the one that thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that." ~James McCosh, 11th President of Princeton University Michelle Farnholtz – Co-Administrator Michelle has been homeschooling her children sine the beginning. She has her degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout the years Michelle has been involved and taught in many ministries. She and her husband have been married for 15 years and been living in Castle Rock for 14 years. Raising and homeschooling their 4 children (14, 12, 8, and 4) has always been her mission. As a family they enjoy traveling, sports, and spending time together. TEACHERS Kathy Anderson – Kindergarten and 1st Grade This will be my 24th year of teaching for this program. My husband and I just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. Our three children are now grown all living in Colorado. We have 3 grandchildren that are a great blessing and joy to us. We really enjoy the moments that we can share together as a family. I have also been involved with the AWANA program for 30 years. I am grateful and thankful that the Lord has given me a heart for children and children's ministries. Lee Anderson- Kindergarten and 1st Grade Aid Growing up outside of Portland, Oregon, Lee never dreamed she’d be home schooling her own children and participating in a program like DMFH. She was pursuing a communication degree with the goal of law school when her father was diagnosed with an idiopathic disease and died a few months later. In a world composed of the temporal, Lee decided to pursue the eternal: people and the Word of God. She switched to a degree in interdisciplinary education for K-12 and longs to help “the little children come to (Christ), and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matt 19:14). Lee moved to Colorado in 2011 after marrying a Denver boy, and Aaron and Lee have four wonderful children. Lee has taught in private and public schools as well as tutoring high schoolers. Her hobbies include playing the harp, helping high schoolers get into college, enjoying nature, reading everything, eating good food, and exploring with her husband and kids. While this is not the life her teenage self imagined, she agrees with Elizabeth Barrett Browning that “God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame.” Gisella Likens - 2nd grade Gisella, and her husband, Michael have been living in Castle Rock for nearly 13 years and absolutely love it. They have been blessed with a son Elijah (11), who eagerly looks forward to his Friday’s at DMFH. Gisella graduated from Cal. State Long Beach with a degree in Chicano and Latino studies and earned her bilingual teaching credential for elementary school. She taught in a bilingual Mommy and Me preschool class and kindergarten. She and Michael have been serving together in children’s ministry for over 10 years and cherish their time with children. As a family, they love spending time together enjoying outdoor activities, playing board games and traveling. Diann Holmes - Photography with Science Diann, and her husband Cully, have finished 11 amazing and rewarding years homeschooling their three children, Cameron (19), Wesley (17) and Sierra (17), and are now watching with delight and awe as the three of them explore and relish all of the incredible opportunities that await them at their Public High School in Parker. The Holmes children have all been a part of DMFH from 1st through 8th grade and continue to look forward to any opportunities they may have to come back and share the joys of this amazing program. Diann has been an assistant teacher to Kathy Anderson in the Kindergarten and First grade classes for the past three years. She graduated Cum Laude, with a degree in Sociology, from the Colorado University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1987, and also has a strong college course background in Biology, Chemistry and several other physical and social sciences. Aside from her family, Diann's passions are in photography and nature, music, sewing and anything that is artistic. Chris Smart – Creative Writing Mrs. Smart is a degreed, veteran homeschooler who has taught both privately and in enrichment programs for over 25 years. She was with DMFH from the time it began until last year when she took the year off. She and her husband homeschooled their three children. They now find their time busy with a forever puppy, a beagle named Marty. Following God’s direction, she continues serving the homeschool community by teaching at DMFH and CHESS. Teaching writing is one of her favorite subjects, and she loves making it fun for students! Although Chris has a lot of interests and hobbies, her favorite pastime is spoiling her grandchildren! Briana "Breezy" Lewis - Kingdom Worldview Brianna, or Breezy as she is called by those who know her, has been teaching in some capacity since she was in 7th grade beginning in AWANA and homeschooling her younger siblings. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from The Master’s University with a degree in Teacher Education, minors in English, History, and Bible and is a licensed teacher in the state of Colorado. She loves being a second-generation homeschooling mom to her two adorable red-headed girls, reading, being outdoors, and training horses and their riders. She is passionate about raising the upcoming generation to know what they believe and why they believe it, so they are able to stay strong during hard times and "give an answer to the hope that lies within them with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15). Breezy thrives on challenges, study, and research, teaching others, heartfelt conversations, and loving those around her. She is thrilled to be joining DMFH this semester and to be teaching the next generation what a worldview is, how worldview drives everything you think and do, and how to recognize what worldview is being presented in what you read, watch and listen to. Cliff Smart-American Foundations Mr. Smart and his wife homeschooled their three children from Kindergarten through high school. He was one of DMFH’s founders in 2009 and served on its Board for many years. During their homeschool adventure, he taught several classes in co-ops, enrichment programs, and privately. His favorite subject is science, but Cliff also has an avid love for history and government. He is excited to teach the truthful vision of our Founders in establishing the United States of America. |
